Two separate award tracks: Editorial (merit-based, objective data) + Community Choice (player-voted, subjective). Each state page has both — zero overlap in methodology.
Editorial — Merit
Determined entirely by objective data: verified venue information and real Google ratings from the Google Places API. No club can pay to win. A featured club may appear only if it outscores all others on the same transparent formula.
- Club of the Year — Bayesian-weighted Google rating, commercial clubs ≥20 reviews.
- Players' Choice — highest raw rating with ≥150 reviews (volume + quality).
- Top Public Facility — best score among parks and rec centers.
- Honor Roll — top-10 by merit score.
Ratings from Google Places API; never scraped. Ratings older than 90 days excluded. Full methodology →
Community Choice — Player Vote
Subjective and player-voted. Categories like Best Vibe and Friendliest Community can't be captured in a formula — they need real players to choose. Email-verified ballots; one vote per person per category.
