The Leader (myleaderpaper.com), a local newspaper, reported the opening of De Soto's new six-court pickleball facility at Rock Road and South Thomas Street, completed April 2024 with a grand opening/ribbon-cutting May 10, 2024; the City Council named it Melkus Park after the city manager. Free for public use; the De Soto Library separately offers pickleball paddle/ball checkout. This appears to be the real facility that discovery leads mislabeled as being at the local high school/junior high — no primary source was found confirming courts at either school building.
