Rockford's headline venue is brand new: the Meijer Sports Complex added 20 outdoor pickleball courts, including one championship court, as part of a $13.5 million expansion opening in spring 2026, managed by the Rockford Pickleball Club rather than the city directly — by far the largest dedicated build in the area once it's open. Free public courts also exist at Courtland Township Hall and Cannon Township, both technically outside city limits in surrounding Kent County townships but using Rockford mailing addresses, each with its own dedicated page on the township's official site. For indoor play, MVP Sports Clubs' Rockford location — a 150,000-plus-square-foot athletic club — runs pickleball as part of a broader membership program alongside tennis, rather than as a standalone facility. Until the Meijer complex opens, the townships' free outdoor courts are the main non-membership option in the area.
