Pickleball Courts in Ellensburg, WA

Ellensburg's pickleball scene took shape largely in response to a single event — the Ellensburg Racquet & Recreation Center fire in December 2022, which took out the city's dedicated indoor courts. Players shifted to free outdoor sites like Morgan Middle School and Mountain View/Lions Park, both maintained informally with courts not even listed on the city's own park pages, and a volunteer group called the Ellensburg Pickleball Club (EPiC) built 4 acrylic outdoor courts at West Ellensburg Park using a city matching grant. Astria Pickleball Club, a 4-court indoor facility on Dolarway Road, opened in 2023 partly to fill the gap the fire left. Central Washington University's Recreation Center (SURC) is also in the mix — EPiC rents its gym multiple times a week, and the public can join for a $7 day-use fee if accompanied by a paid CWU Rec member. It's a scene rebuilt by volunteers and a university gym more than by the city parks department.
