Where to Play Pickleball in Chattanooga, Tennessee (2026)
Last reviewed 16 July 2026 against every venue's primary source. We track 20 Chattanooga-area pickleball venues that aren't closed — 18 open today plus 2 large clubs still under construction — of which 11 are fully verified. This guide names every one of them and is honest about which facts are still unconfirmed.
Chattanooga's pickleball scene runs on a different engine than Nashville's or Knoxville's. There's no single flagship megaclub anchoring the metro — no 20-plus-court private facility with hundreds of Google reviews. Instead, the city's own Parks and Outdoors department has wired pickleball into most of its community-center network, two dedicated free outdoor complexes have opened on the east and north sides of town, and exactly one paid club — The Arena Club, downtown — is open for dedicated indoor play right now. The bigger story is what's coming: two large indoor clubs, Pickleball Kingdom Chattanooga and The Flying Pickle, are under construction and will roughly triple the metro's indoor court count once they open. Until then, the honest picture is smaller and more municipal than most "top pickleball cities" content implies.
Five things anchor that picture:
- The City of Chattanooga community-center network. Eight centers — Brainerd, Hixson, East Chattanooga, East Lake, Tyner, South Chattanooga, Washington Hills, and Francis B. Wyatt — offer free indoor open play, most sharing a Monday–Friday 9 AM–noon window. Two more (Eastdale, Glenwood) round out the network but are still
needs-verification. - Two dedicated free outdoor complexes. Batter's Place (5 courts, East Brainerd) and Red Bank Pickleball Courts (6 courts, Kids Corner Park) are the closest thing Chattanooga has to purpose-built public pickleball parks.
- One open paid club. The Arena Club (12 indoor courts, downtown, membership) is currently the only dedicated indoor pickleball facility open to the public in Chattanooga proper.
- Two flagship clubs under construction. Pickleball Kingdom Chattanooga (9 indoor courts) and The Flying Pickle (17 total courts) are building out now — neither is open, so don't drive to either expecting to play.
- A YMCA cluster and one school-court program, both thin on published facts. Three YMCA branches list pickleball as an amenity; Lookout Valley Middle/High School has 4 outdoor courts converted from tennis courts under a 2023 city/county initiative.
This isn't a rankings list — it's a map of every venue in our dataset that isn't marked closed, organized by what you're trying to do, with unconfirmed facts flagged as unconfirmed rather than guessed at.
The short answer for each type of player
- You want dedicated indoor pickleball courts today, no waiting for a grand opening. The Arena Club (1804 Chestnut St) is the only option — 12 indoor temperature-controlled courts (plus 2 padel courts), membership-based. Hours: Mon–Fri 4:30 AM–10 PM, Sat–Sun 6 AM–8 PM. Pricing isn't published, so the record stays
needs-verificationeven though court count, address, and hours are confirmed from thearenaclubtn.com. - You want free outdoor courts on the east side. Batter's Place (8011 Batter's Place Rd) has 5 lighted outdoor courts, resurfaced December 2024, sunrise to 10 PM, free.
- You want free outdoor courts north, toward Red Bank or Hixson. Red Bank Pickleball Courts at Kids Corner Park (3817 Redding Rd, Red Bank) has 6 free, first-come-first-served courts, 6 AM–11 PM.
- You want free indoor play close to home on a weekday morning. The City of Chattanooga runs free indoor open play, most sites Mon–Fri 9 AM–noon, at eight verified community centers across the city — see the full list below.
- You're a YMCA member. Downtown, North River, and Hamilton Family YMCA branches all list pickleball, but none has a published court count or dedicated hours yet — call ahead.
- You're near Lookout Valley. Lookout Valley Middle/High School (350 Lookout High St) has 4 outdoor courts converted from 2 tennis courts, part of a 2023 city/county initiative. The school's own site doesn't mention them, so details beyond the court count aren't yet confirmed.
- You're waiting for Chattanooga's first big indoor club. Pickleball Kingdom Chattanooga (9 courts planned) is "Coming Soon" with no confirmed open date. The Flying Pickle (17 courts planned) broke ground September 2025, targeting late-summer/fall 2026. Neither is open — call ahead before a special trip.
Free outdoor courts at city parks
Chattanooga has two dedicated, free outdoor pickleball complexes, both distinct from the community-center gym courts below and both confirmed against an official government source:
Batter's Place (8011 Batter's Place Rd, Chattanooga, TN 37421) has 5 outdoor courts (one ADA-accessible) in East Brainerd, resurfaced December 2024. Lighted, sunrise to 10 PM, no fee. This is one of three sites from a 2023 Chattanooga Parks & Outdoors / Hamilton County Schools courts-conversion initiative that also touched Hixson and Lookout Valley (see below).
Red Bank Pickleball Courts at Kids Corner Park (3817 Redding Rd, Red Bank, TN 37415) has 6 outdoor courts, first-come-first-served, 6 AM–11 PM daily. The official Red Bank Parks, Trails & Recreation Division page confirms address, court count, and hours; it doesn't explicitly state a fee, and our record treats that as free public access on that basis rather than assuming.
A third site, Standifer Gap Park, appears in a prior lead but doesn't check out: the official Hamilton County Parks page lists 8 tennis courts, a baseball field, football field, volleyball, and a walking track — no pickleball — and the City's own tennis-and-pickleball page doesn't include it either. We've excluded it from this guide rather than repeat an unconfirmed claim; see the data-integrity note below.
The City of Chattanooga community-center network
This is where most of Chattanooga's pickleball actually happens day to day: free indoor open play, run out of neighborhood community centers, most sharing a Monday–Friday 9 AM–noon window (schedules can shift for classes and after-school programs, so a courtesy call before driving across town is worth it). Eight are fully verified against the City's own tennis-and-pickleball page and its community-centers directory, all Mon–Fri 9 AM–noon, all free:
- Brainerd Community Center — 1010 N Moore Rd, Chattanooga, TN 37411. Phone (423) 643-6220.
- Hixson Community Center — 5401 School Drive, Hixson, TN 37343. The outdoor courts here (4, sunrise to sunset) are separately confirmed alongside the indoor open play. Phone (423) 643-7300.
- East Chattanooga Community Center — 2409 Dodson Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37407. Phone (423) 643-7300.
- East Lake Community Center — 3610 Dodds Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37407. Phone (423) 643-6980.
- Tyner Community Center — 6900 Ty Hi Dr, Chattanooga, TN 37421. Phone (423) 643-7300.
- South Chattanooga Community Center — 1151 W 40th St, Chattanooga, TN 37409. Phone (423) 643-7300.
- Washington Hills Community Center — 4628 Oakwood Dr, Chattanooga, TN 37416. Phone (423) 643-7300.
- Francis B. Wyatt Community Center — 406 Colville St, Chattanooga, TN 37405. Phone (423) 643-7300.
None of these eight publishes a court count on its official page — the City's tennis-and-pickleball page confirms pickleball at each site without stating how many courts are on the floor, so we list them as "count not published" rather than estimate.
Two more community centers carry pickleball but stay needs-verification:
- Eastdale Community Center (1312 Moss St, Chattanooga, TN 37411, phone 423-643-6989) — Mon–Fri 9 AM–noon indoor open play is confirmed, but access here is listed as paid rather than free, and the fee isn't published. Worth a call before assuming it's a free drop-in like the eight above.
- Glenwood Community Center (6098 Debra Rd, Chattanooga, TN 37411) — the City's page lists Glenwood among its pickleball sites, with 4 courts (3 indoor, 1 outdoor) and free access. We're flagging this one for a second look before fully verifying it: the same street address surfaced separately in our research tied to a different facility name, and we'd rather confirm the address is right than publish it as settled fact.
The Arena Club — dedicated club play today
The Arena Club (1804 Chestnut St, Chattanooga, TN 37408) is, as of this writing, the only dedicated indoor pickleball club open in Chattanooga proper. Its own site confirms 12 indoor, temperature-controlled pickleball courts (plus 2 separate padel courts), with hours Mon–Fri 4:30 AM–10 PM and Sat–Sun 6 AM–8 PM. It's membership-based, but pricing isn't published, which is the one gap keeping the record at needs-verification rather than fully verified — everything else (address, court count, hours) traces directly to the club's own site. If you want real indoor courts in Chattanooga today rather than a City gym floor on a weekday morning, this is currently the only place to get them.
YMCA locations
Three Chattanooga-area YMCA branches list pickleball as a member amenity, but none has a published court count or pickleball-specific hours:
- Downtown Family YMCA (301 W 6th Street, Chattanooga, TN 37402, phone 423-266-3766) — confirms pickleball and a free "Pickleball 101" intro class for members, first Saturday of the month at 8 AM. Court count not published.
- North River Family YMCA (4138 Hixson Pike, Chattanooga, TN 37415) — pickleball listed as an amenity; no further details published.
- Hamilton Family YMCA (7430 Shallowford Rd, Chattanooga, TN 37421) — pickleball listed as an amenity; no further details published.
All three stay needs-verification. If one of these is your closest branch, call ahead to confirm current pickleball scheduling — the association's site doesn't yet spell out court counts or hours.
School courts
Lookout Valley Middle/High School Pickleball Courts (350 Lookout High St, Chattanooga, TN 37419) has 4 outdoor courts, converted from 2 tennis courts. Per local news coverage (NewsChannel 9), the conversion was part of a 2023 partnership between Chattanooga Parks & Outdoors and the Hamilton County Department of Education that also delivered new pickleball courts at East Brainerd (now Batter's Place, above) and Hixson (now part of Hixson Community Center's outdoor courts) — so if you've played either of those, Lookout Valley is the third site from the same initiative. The school's own website doesn't mention the courts, so hours and access details aren't yet confirmed from a primary source; the record stays needs-verification even though the courts' existence is corroborated by news coverage.
Coming soon: the two big clubs
Chattanooga's pickleball infrastructure is about to change shape. Two large indoor clubs are under construction and tagged coming-soon in our dataset — real projects, confirmed from their own official pages, but not open yet:
- Pickleball Kingdom Chattanooga (2020 Gunbarrel Rd, phone (423) 386-5911) — 9 indoor courts. The chain's own site lists it as "Coming Soon" with no opening date; standard membership tiers (ACE/Team/Royal Family) are expected once it opens.
- The Flying Pickle (2105 S. Lyerly St) — 17 total courts (16 climate-controlled indoor + 1 tournament court). Broke ground September 24, 2025 per the Chattanooga Times Free Press and WDEF; its own site confirms "coming soon" status, targeting late-summer/fall 2026. Hours and pricing aren't published.
Once both open, Chattanooga goes from one small paid club (12 courts at The Arena Club) to three, with 38 indoor courts metro-wide. Until then, treat both addresses as construction sites, not places to play.
The needs-verification cluster and data-integrity notes
Nine of the 20 venues in this guide are still tagged needs-verification: The Flying Pickle, Eastdale Community Center, Glenwood Community Center, all three YMCA branches, The Arena Club (pending pricing only), and Lookout Valley Middle/High School. We've named all of them above with whatever a primary source actually confirms, rather than filling gaps with guesses.
Two specific integrity notes:
- Standifer Gap Park was excluded entirely. A prior lead claimed 4 pickleball courts there, but the official Hamilton County Parks page lists tennis, baseball, football, volleyball, and a walking track — no pickleball — and the City's tennis-and-pickleball roundup doesn't include it either. We dropped it from the guide and flagged the record for correction rather than publish an unconfirmed count.
- Glenwood Community Center's address (6098 Debra Rd) surfaced in research alongside a note tying that street address to a different community center. We're leaving Glenwood in, since the facility does appear on the City's official pickleball page, but flagging the address for a second confirmation pass.

About this guide
This guide covers every Chattanooga-area pickleball record in our dataset not tagged closed as of 16 July 2026 — 20 venues, 11 fully verified against a primary source (the venue's own site, the City's official pages, or, for Red Bank, that city's own parks page). Court counts, hours, and pricing are stated only where a primary source confirms them; where a field is missing — most community centers' court counts, all three YMCAs' hours, both under-construction clubs' pricing — we say so instead of estimating. No Google ratings appear here: no Chattanooga-area pickleball record in our dataset currently carries a rating substantial enough to publish, unlike Knoxville or Nashville.
We excluded one record — Standifer Gap Park — entirely, because the official Hamilton County Parks page contradicts the pickleball claim in our lead data, and flagged (without excluding) Glenwood Community Center's street address pending a second confirmation pass.

Template: city-guide, matching the Nashville/Knoxville pattern. Uses target_path and canonical_city_page from front matter.
Data note: unlike Knoxville and Nashville, no Chattanooga-area pickleball record currently carries a published Google rating — omit rating widgets/schema for this page until that changes.
Data-integrity flags for the Verifier:
standifer-gap-park-pickleball-courts— official Hamilton County Parks page contradicts the pickleball claim (lists tennis/baseball/football/volleyball/track only). Excluded from this guide; recommend removing the pickleball claim or re-confirming with Hamilton County Parks Maintenance.glenwood-community-center-pickleball— address (6098 Debra Rd) surfaced in research tied to a possibly different facility ("Jessie Igou Community Center" per the Eastdale record's notes). Recommend a phone confirmation before the next pass.
Link convention: venue links use the record's own id as the URL segment per courtPathAbs in build.js (cityHref('pickleball','Chattanooga','TN') + c.id + '/' → /pickleball/united-states/tennessee/chattanooga/
/), used root-relative throughout. Community-center venues without a confirmed court count are named in bold without a link, pending page build.
Cross-links: link from the existing Tennessee state guide's Chattanooga section, replacing its inline-only coverage with a pointer here (mirrors how it already points to Nashville and Knoxville).
