Where to Play Pickleball in Columbus, Ohio (2026)

Last reviewed 14 June 2026 against every venue's primary source. We list 30 open pickleball venues in Columbus, anchored by a city parks system that covers 118 courts at 35 locations, and two flagship private clubs with a combined 60+ courts.

Columbus is one of the best pickleball cities in the Midwest — and it earned that status through private investment, a proactive parks system, and a growing competitive scene. Match Point Pickleball Club (38 championship indoor courts on the city's east side) is billed as the largest indoor pickleball facility in the United States. Pickle & Chill (22 courts, indoor and outdoor) has twice hosted Major League Pickleball regular-season events, most recently MLP Columbus 2026 in May. The Andrew Ethan Stern Pickleball Complex at Columbus JCC — a 20,000-square-foot facility with 8 indoor and 4 outdoor courts — opened its doors on May 31, 2026. All of this sits on top of a Columbus Recreation and Parks Department (Columbus Rec Parks) network that covers 118 pickleball courts at 35 locations across the city.

Ohio State University (65,000 students) gives Columbus a perpetual young-player pipeline. A fast-growing tech sector has added a wave of 20s-and-30s players over the past five years. Columbus is also home to the Columbus Sliders, the city's Major League Pickleball franchise — which raised the local profile considerably when MLP Columbus came to town.

The short answer for each type of player

Match Point Pickleball Club — the anchor venue

There is no other indoor pickleball facility like Match Point in the Midwest, and very few like it anywhere in the country. 38 indoor championship-size courts on a single floor at 350 McCormick Blvd, east Columbus (43213). The courts feature:

The facility opened in late fall 2025 and quickly became the home base for the Columbus Sliders' practice infrastructure and DUPR-rated league play. Open play, private lessons, clinics, and corporate events are all available. Hours: Mon–Thu 6am–10pm; Fri–Sat 6am–midnight; Sun 6am–10pm. Phone: (614) 569-2556. Website: matchpointpickleballclub.com.

For the sheer volume of courts, the technology integration, and the community that has formed around it, Match Point is the court you'd go to first if you moved to Columbus and cared about pickleball.

Pickle & Chill — competitive home of Columbus pickleball

Pickle & Chill (880 W Henderson Rd, 43214) entered the Columbus scene with a social-first model — 22 courts (12 indoor, 10 outdoor), a full bar, a lounge, and programming designed around the idea that pickleball should be fun before it's competitive. It has since become the city's most prominent tournament venue. Major League Pickleball has hosted regular-season events here in both 2025 and 2026; MLP Columbus 2026 (May 28–31) drew national talent including Anna Leigh Waters and saw the Columbus Sliders compete in front of their home crowd.

Pickle & Chill books open play in two-hour blocks with a limit of five players per court — tighter queuing than most venues, which means you actually play rather than waiting on a rotation. The club caps each session at 20+ weekly open-play slots across four skill levels (from beginner to advanced). Text-only contact: 833-360-7116. Full booking at pickleandchill.com.

The Columbus Rec Parks network — 118 courts, 35 locations

Columbus Recreation and Parks' pickleball program is one of the most extensive city-managed networks in the Midwest. From the official city portal:

Booking: Courts can be reserved through the Columbus Rec Parks website at columbusrecparks.com/wellness/athletics/pickleball/. A Columbus Recreation Leisure Card is required for permit reservations.

Walk-on access: The outdoor parks are the best bet for free, casual play. Show up, occupy an open court, bring your own net only if the park doesn't have permanent pickleball nets. Most parks list "Pickleball Overlays" — lined tennis courts — rather than fully dedicated pickleball courts with their own permanent nets. The exception is Marion-Franklin Park (2801 Lockbourne Rd, 43207), which has 3 dedicated outdoor pickleball courts.

Indoor community center access: Columbus Rec Parks runs indoor pickleball at several community centers, but not all. The official pickleball page (columbusrecparks.com/wellness/athletics/pickleball/) lists which community centers have active programs — confirm before visiting, as indoor schedules vary.

The Columbus JCC — newest flagship (opened May 31, 2026)

The Andrew Ethan Stern Pickleball Complex at Columbus JCC (1125 College Ave, 43209, in the Bexley-adjacent East Columbus corridor) is the newest major addition to the city's pickleball landscape. The complex:

The complex opened as the largest capital project in the JCC's history. JCC members have access through their standard membership (Pickleball+ add-on available for extra court time). It's the best option in East Columbus for those looking for modern facilities and community programming without a pure-pickleball club membership.

Scarborough East Tennis Club — the traditional option

Scarborough East Tennis Club (5641 Alshire Rd, 43232) offers an established (pre-pickleball boom) facility on Columbus's southeast side with 4 indoor pickleball courts. Hours: Mon–Thu 8am–10pm, Fri–Sun 8am–8pm. Pricing: $6 drop-in (member) / $9 (non-member); membership $150–$250/year. Phone: (614) 868-5683. Website: setennisclub.net/pickleball/.

A solid traditional-club option for players who want structured court time with a tennis-club feel rather than a dedicated pickleball facility.

Life Time Easton — premium fitness + pickleball

Life Time Easton (3900 Easton Station, 43219) is the Easton Town Center area's premium fitness and entertainment hub, with indoor pickleball courts alongside its full gym, pool, and spa facilities. Court access is included in Life Time membership; day passes are available. Hours: Mon–Thu 4am–10pm, Fri–Sat 4am–9pm, Sun 6am–9pm. Open-play schedules are published in the Life Time app. Phone: (614) 428-6000. Website: lifetime.life/locations/oh/easton/.

Best for travelers staying near Easton or members of the Life Time national network.

Columbus Sliders and the competitive scene

Columbus is now a Major League Pickleball city. The Columbus Sliders compete in the MLP circuit, and their home events at Pickle & Chill have established Columbus as a legitimate stop on the national pickleball calendar. MLP Columbus 2026 (May 28–31) drew field including the New Jersey 5s (who swept the Columbus Sliders in the semifinal) — the event was nationally streamed and established a template for future Columbus MLP events.

For competitive players: Match Point has DUPR-rated league play and tournaments. Pickle & Chill hosts APP (Association of Pickleball Players) and MLP events. The Columbus Sports Commission actively recruits national pickleball events.

Practical information

Cost summary:

Weather window: Ohio's climate allows March–November outdoor play in most years. Columbus winters are cold enough that an indoor club membership pays for itself between December and February.

Parking: Free parking at all Columbus Rec Parks locations. Match Point and Pickle & Chill both have dedicated parking lots. Columbus JCC has a large surface lot.

How this guide was built

Every venue in this guide is in our Columbus, OH city page as a per-court record with full address, phone, hours, and access — each confirmed against primary sources: official Columbus Recreation and Parks Department pages (columbusrecparks.com), individual venue websites, Columbus Jewish Community Center (columbusjcc.org), and news coverage from the Columbus Jewish News and Columbus Sports Commission for the JCC opening. The Columbus Rec Parks network data (118 courts, 35 locations, 60 indoor / 58 outdoor, pricing) is drawn directly from the official city portal.

We did not build this guide from a directory scrape. Rankings reflect verified data — the "best" designation for any venue is editorial, grounded in verified court count, programming quality, and accessibility, not advertising or pay-to-rank.
