Where to Play Pickleball in Madison, WI (2026 Guide)

A neighborhood-by-neighborhood guide to pickleball in Madison, WI — 31 venues from Dill Dinkers' 10-court flagship (opened Aug 2025) and Garner Park's dedicated outdoor complex to 23 city park locations and Warner Park's 8 new outdoor courts opening 2026.

Where to Play Pickleball in Madison, WI (2026 Guide)

Last reviewed 13 June 2026 against every venue's primary source. We list 31 open pickleball venues in Madison, including 26 verified and 5 at needs-verification. The city's park system maintains a dedicated pickleball directory at cityofmadison.com.

Madison's pickleball scene got a major upgrade in August 2025 when Dill Dinkers opened 10 indoor courts on the east side — the city's first facility built exclusively for pickleball at that scale. Combined with Pickle Pro Courts (24-hour access on the near-north side) and Princeton Club East, Madison now has three robust indoor options to complement what was always a solid outdoor parks network.

The outdoor picture: 23 park locations citywide, anchored by Garner Park (the city's only purely dedicated outdoor pickleball complex, 6 courts on the west side) and Door Creek Park (8 dual-lined tennis/pickleball courts on the southeast side, the highest outdoor court count in the system). Most courts are multi-purpose — asphalt surfaces with pickleball lines over tennis footprints — but the city is investing in dedicated infrastructure: Warner Park on the northside will open 8 new dedicated outdoor courts in 2026, complementing the existing 5-court indoor program at the Warner Park Community Recreation Center.

With two indoor clubs plus a university-town population that runs young, active, and competitive, Madison has the coverage and the community to support players at every level year-round.

The short answer for each type of player

You want the best dedicated indoor club: Dill Dinkers Madison (5004 Tradewinds Parkway, Madison 53718). Ten courts (6 regulation, 4 championship-sized) with Cushion X surfaces in a climate-controlled 28,000 sq ft space — the largest dedicated indoor pickleball facility in Wisconsin. Opened August 6, 2025. Open play: members $7/session, visitors $14/session. Hours: 8am–10pm daily. Phone: (608) 747-3465.

You want 24-hour access: Pickle Pro Courts (2907 N Sherman Ave, Madison 53704). The city's round-the-clock option — verified at 24/7 access per the official website. Phone: (608) 414-4434. Located on the near-north side near the Northside neighborhoods.

You want the best free outdoor dedicated complex: Garner Park Pickleball (333 S Rosa Rd, Madison 53711 — West Side). Six dedicated outdoor courts — the only outdoor courts in Madison built solely for pickleball, with no tennis footprint. First-come, first-served for drop-in; leagues and lessons require advance reservation through the city's parks system. Source: cityofmadison.com/parks/pickleball.

You want the most courts at a single outdoor park: Door Creek Park (7035 Littlemore Dr, Madison 53719 — Southeast). Eight outdoor courts (tennis dual-striped for pickleball), the highest outdoor court count at any single Madison park. Asphalt surface; no lights confirmed at this location.

You want indoor with a recreation center membership: Warner Park Community Recreation Center (1625 Northport Dr, Madison 53704). Five indoor pickleball courts in the gym. Phone: (608) 266-4712. City of Madison community recreation membership required. Source: cityofmadison.com/parks/wpcrc.

Programming covers every level: Beginner Growth Series (7 weeks, $115–$139), Novice Growth Series (7 weeks), multi-level open play sessions by skill bracket, and private lessons. Leagues and tournament programming are included in the membership model. The location is on the east side at the Tradewinds Business Park — easy access from I-90 and the East Beltline.

Madison's only venue confirmed for round-the-clock access. Located on N Sherman Avenue in the Northside neighborhood, near Warner Park. Also offers badminton — a less common combination that indicates a purpose-built racquet-sports space rather than a converted gym.

Princeton Club East — Eastside

The Princeton Club's east-side location offers 3 indoor pickleball courts plus weekend open play sessions. Membership-gated access in a fitness club context — tennis backgrounds welcome, as the space is a tennis-to-pickleball conversion.

Indoor pickleball — recreation centers

Warner Park Community Recreation Center — Northside

The community center model means lower cost than a private club, though membership is required rather than drop-in.

Outdoor pickleball — flagship parks

All 6 courts have permanent lines and permanent nets. The park is on Madison's far-west side near Junction Road and Odana Road. The first-come system during peak hours (weekday mornings, weekend afternoons) can fill up fast — arrive early or check the city's parks calendar for organized play windows.

Coming in 2026: Warner Park Outdoor Pickleball Complex

Address: 2930 N Sherman Ave, Madison, WI 53704 (Southeast corner of Warner Park) Courts planned: 8 new dedicated outdoor courts with fencing and seating Timeline: Construction expected spring 2026; completion fall 2026. Phase 2 (new modernized lighting system) to follow. Source: cityofmadison.com/parks/projects/warner-park-pickleball-courts

Warner Park's 8 new dedicated outdoor courts will be located between the existing shelter and tennis courts in the southeast area of the park. The existing tennis courts are being removed as part of the project, and the existing lighting is being reused temporarily until Phase 2 brings new LED lighting online. When complete, Warner Park will be the northside's outdoor counterpart to Garner Park's dedicated outdoor complex on the west side. New paved paths will improve access from the parking area.

This project makes Warner Park the one location in Madison with both significant indoor capacity (Warner Park CRC's 5 gym courts) and a large dedicated outdoor complex — a complete standalone pickleball destination.

Practical tips for Madison pickleball players

Seasonal calendar: Madison outdoor courts are weather-limited roughly November–March. The city's snowiest months (December–February) push most activity indoors. Dill Dinkers and Pickle Pro Courts are the go-to year-round options. The city parks program at Warner Park CRC runs year-round indoors.

Net situation: Garner Park has permanent pickleball nets on all 6 dedicated courts — the most reliable walk-up-and-play outdoor experience. Most other park locations use shared tennis nets; pickleball on tennis nets is playable but not ideal. The city parks site notes which locations have pickleball-specific net configurations.

Court reservations: Individuals play first-come, first-served at all outdoor parks. Leagues, clinics, and lessons reserve through the city's online parks system. Dill Dinkers takes court reservations through its own booking platform; Princeton Club uses the club member portal.

Getting involved with the community: The Capital Area Pickleball Association (CAPA) is the local organizing body for leagues, clinics, and tournaments. Check capareapb.com for current schedules — they coordinate play across multiple venues including indoor and outdoor sites.

University connection: Madison's UW campus and its graduate-student population create steady demand for pickleball, especially indoor. Dill Dinkers' location on the east side (near I-90) and Pickle Pro's northside location both sit outside the campus zone — parking is far easier than anything near University Avenue.
