Where to Play Pickleball in Phoenix, Arizona (2026 Guide)

Last reviewed 12 June 2026 against every venue's primary source. We list 28 open pickleball venues in Phoenix, including 22 verified and 6 at needs-verification.

Phoenix is technically one of the best pickleball cities in the US — as long as you understand the calendar. The metro's outdoor courts are genuinely excellent, and most are free. The city of Phoenix has invested steadily in dedicated outdoor pickleball infrastructure: permanent nets, acrylic surfaces, LED lighting for evening play, and multiple large complexes spread across the metro. But from May through September, Phoenix's 100°F+ heat means outdoor play is limited to before 9 AM or after 7 PM. Outside that window, the city's network of climate-controlled community center courts fills the gap.

The flagship is Pecos Park (17010 S 48th St, south Phoenix) — 16 dedicated lighted outdoor courts, free, open 5:30 AM to 10 PM. Nothing in metro Phoenix matches it for court count or community activity. The second-largest free outdoor complex is Paseo Highlands in northwest Phoenix (6 courts, LED lighting, 6 AM–10 PM). Between them, the two parks cover the south and north ends of the city.

For players who want year-round climate control, the City of Phoenix community center program offers indoor courts at most recreation centers for a $2 day pass or $20 annual resident pass — extraordinary value by any national comparison.

The short answer for each type of player

You want the best free outdoor experience: Pecos Park (17010 S 48th St, Phoenix 85048). Sixteen dedicated lighted outdoor courts — the largest free public pickleball complex in metro Phoenix. Free, open daily 5:30 AM–10 PM. The 4-on / 4-off rotation applies when courts are full. Paired with three indoor courts at the adjacent Pecos Community Center (Mon & Wed 9 AM–12 PM, fee applies).

You're in north Phoenix and want outdoor: Paseo Highlands Pickleball Complex (3435 W Pinnacle Peak Rd, Phoenix 85027). Six dedicated outdoor courts with LED lights, free, open daily 6 AM–10 PM. The north Phoenix anchor for outdoor play in the Deer Valley / Pinnacle Peak corridor.

You want the cheapest indoor option: Any City of Phoenix Community Center — $2 adult day pass or $1 youth, $20/year resident pass. Cesar Chavez Community Center (3 courts), Pecos Community Center (3 courts), Sunnyslope Community Center (3 courts), Paradise Valley CC (4 courts), Washington Activity Center (4 courts), Goelet Beuf CC (4 courts), Deer Valley CC (4 courts), Longview CC (2 courts). See the full list below.

You want a resort experience: Arizona Biltmore Tennis & Pickleball (2400 E Missouri Ave, Phoenix 85016). Four dedicated outdoor courts at the historic Waldorf Astoria resort in the Biltmore corridor. Resort guests and club members only; daily hours 6 AM–7 PM. Lessons available — call (602) 299-9529 or email [email protected].

You want premium fitness club access: Life Time Paradise Valley (12800 N Tatum Blvd, Phoenix 85032) and Life Time North Scottsdale (6850 E Chauncey Ln, Phoenix 85054) — both confirmed pickleball courts (indoor and outdoor respectively). Membership required.

Outdoor parks — The flagships

Pecos Park — South Phoenix (Ahwatukee Foothills)

Address: 17010 S 48th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85048 Courts: 16 dedicated outdoor lighted courts with permanent nets Access: Free; open daily 5:30 AM–10 PM Rotation: 4-on / 4-off paddle system when courts are full

Pecos Park is the center of Phoenix pickleball. Sixteen dedicated courts on acrylic surface — more than any other free public complex in the metro. The Ahwatukee Foothills location means it draws players from both the south Phoenix suburbs and the Chandler/Tempe corridors. Early morning (6–9 AM) and evening (7–9:30 PM) are peak times in summer; midday is manageable in winter.

Pecos Community Center (same address, phone 602-495-5500) adds 3 indoor climate-controlled courts — small-group open play Mon & Wed 9 AM–12 PM, with pickleball clinics and beginner programming on site.

Paseo Highlands Pickleball Complex — Northwest Phoenix

Address: 3435 W Pinnacle Peak Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85027 Courts: 6 dedicated outdoor lighted courts with permanent nets Access: Free; open daily 6 AM–10 PM

Paseo Highlands is north Phoenix's premier outdoor complex — the clear destination for players in the Deer Valley, Happy Valley, and Pinnacle Peak residential corridors. Six dedicated courts with LED lighting and permanent nets, no reservation needed. Busy during morning and evening slots; the early-morning 6–9 AM window sees regulars who play before the heat builds.

The adjacent Goelet A.C. Beuf Community Center (same address) offers 4 indoor courts with portable nets as the climate-controlled complement during summer.

Indoor pickleball — City Community Centers

Phoenix's indoor community center program is among the most affordable in the country. The standard structure: $2 adult day pass / $1 youth / $20 annual resident pass — covers courts at any city community center. Most centers have 3–4 courts on multi-use gymnasium floors with permanent pickleball lines and portable nets.

Important: Schedules are seasonal and shift between Fall/Winter and Spring/Summer programs. Always confirm current times at the facility before visiting. The official Phoenix Parks pickleball PDF (available on phoenix.gov) publishes the full schedule each season.

The Phoenix summer strategy

The heat is real. Phoenix averages 104°F in July — outdoor play from 10 AM to 6 PM is genuinely dangerous in peak summer. The community has adapted:

Morning window: 5:30 AM–9 AM — the city lights courts early for a reason. Serious players at Pecos Park are on court at 6 AM on weekdays in July.

Evening window: 7:00 PM–9:30 PM — courts cool significantly after sunset, and LED lighting at Pecos, Paseo Highlands, and the four-court neighborhood parks makes evening play viable through September.

Shoulder season (Oct–April): Outdoor conditions are excellent, midday play is comfortable, and courts see maximum usage. This is when many of the metro's retirees and snowbird players are present.

Community centers: The indoor program exists precisely for the summer gap. $2/session is a small price for climate-controlled play — the community centers see their highest pickleball attendance from June through August.
