Where to Play Pickleball in Portland, Oregon (2026)

A neighborhood-by-neighborhood guide to 30 open pickleball venues across metro Portland — Portland Parks & Recreation's four drop-in community centers ($6/session), six free outdoor parks, The People's Courts' 14-court NE Portland complex, and Pickleball Kingdom Tigard's 13-court west-side club.

Where to Play Pickleball in Portland, Oregon (2026)

Last reviewed 2 June 2026 against every venue's primary source. We list 30 open pickleball venues across Portland and the western suburbs (Beaverton, Tigard, Lake Oswego, Gresham, Hillsboro). 14 of 15 Portland city venues are confirmed first-party — a 93% verification rate for the city proper. Several suburban venues are still being confirmed.

Portland has one of the most democratic pickleball systems of any major US city: four community centers offering indoor drop-in at $6/session, six free outdoor parks, and a growing cluster of private clubs. The city's investment in outdoor courts is real — 35+ outdoor courts across six parks — but Portland players need to know one thing before they drive to a park with a ball and a paddle: most Portland outdoor courts do not provide nets. Gabriel Park (SW Portland, 6 courts) and Laurelhurst Park (NE Portland, 2 courts) are the exceptions with nets installed. At Columbia Park, Sellwood Park, Pier Park, and Hillside Park, you bring your own.

The indoor scene divides naturally between the city community center network ($6/person, no advance booking needed for drop-in), which is some of the best-value indoor pickleball in any large American city, and private clubs that serve players who want reserved court time, leagues, and dedicated programming.

This guide covers the full metro, organized by geography. 93% of Portland proper venues are verified from primary sources — Portland Parks & Recreation's official pickleball hub (portland.gov/parks/recreation/pickleball) is one of the most current and complete city parks pickleball resources in the country.

The short answer for each type of player

You want drop-in indoor courts without a membership, cheapest option: Four Portland Parks & Recreation community centers offer indoor pickleball at $6/session for adults, $5 for seniors — no membership, walk-in during facility hours. Best starting point: East Portland Community Center (4 courts, 740 SE 106th Ave, (503) 823-3450) for players on the east side; Southwest Community Center (5 courts, 6820 SW 45th Ave, (503) 823-2840) for SW Portland.

You want a private club with the most courts and no membership required: The People's Courts (14 courts — 6 indoor + 6 outdoor + 2 skinny singles, 2700 NE 82nd Ave, (503) 455-4843, thepeoplescourts.com) — open daily 8am–10pm. Drop-in open play $18/person ($14 seniors, $12 Monday nights). Court rental also available: indoor $40/hr weekdays, $49/hr evenings + weekends; outdoor $30/hr weekdays, $40/hr evenings + weekends.

You want a private club on the west side: Pickleball Kingdom Tigard (13 indoor courts, 16800 SW 72nd Ave, Tigard, (503) 446-8450, pickleballkingdom.com/clubs/tigard-or/) — membership-based with unlimited open play included. Hours Mon–Fri 6am–11pm, Sat–Sun 7am–9pm.

You want free outdoor courts with nets already there: Gabriel Park (6 outdoor courts with nets, 4508 SW Nevada St, 97219) for SW Portland; Laurelhurst Park (2 outdoor courts with nets, 3789 SE Oak St, 97214) for NE Portland and inner SE.

You want outdoor courts (and will bring a net): Sellwood Park (8 courts, SE Portland, 5am–midnight) or Columbia Park (8 courts, N Portland, 5am–midnight) are the largest outdoor free venues — but plan to bring a portable net.

You want the biggest club in the suburbs: Cascade Athletic Club Gresham (10 courts — 6 indoor + 4 outdoor, 19201 SE Division St, (503) 665-4142, cascadeac.com) for east-metro players; Jumbo's Pickleball Beaverton (9 indoor courts, 16340 NW Bethany Ct, Beaverton, (971) 441-6131) for the Beaverton/Hillsboro corridor.

Outdoor parks — free, first-come first-served

Important note about nets: Portland outdoor courts vary on whether nets are provided. Two parks have nets installed (Gabriel Park and Laurelhurst Park). The others require players to bring their own portable net. This is explicitly noted per-venue below.

Gabriel Park — SW Portland (6 courts, nets provided) ✓ 4508 SW Nevada St, Portland, OR 97219 Six dedicated outdoor hard courts with nets in place. Free, first-come first-served. The best free outdoor option for SW Portland — six dedicated courts with permanent nets is unusually good for a public park. Park hours (standard Portland parks): open until midnight.

Gabriel Park

Private clubs — Portland proper

The People's Courts — NE Portland (14 courts)

2700 NE 82nd Ave, Portland, OR 97220 · (503) 455-4843 · thepeoplescourts.com

Fourteen courts at a 48,000 sq ft multi-activity venue in NE Portland: 6 indoor courts, 6 outdoor courts, and 2 skinny singles courts. Also features cornhole, bocce, disc golf, ping-pong, arcade, and two kitchens. Open daily 8am–10pm, no membership required.

Court pricing:

  • Indoor court rental: $40/hr weekdays 8am–5pm; $49/hr evenings and weekends
  • Outdoor court rental: $30/hr weekdays 8am–5pm; $40/hr evenings and weekends

The People's Courts is Portland's closest equivalent to the entertainment-pickleball model (bar + courts + food) — though it leans more "sports activity complex" than "bar-and-pickle." The $12 Monday open play and the $18 walk-in rate are the most accessible private-club pricing in the city.

What Portland's pickleball scene is getting right — and what it's missing

Getting right: The city's investment in outdoor pickleball is significant. 35+ free outdoor courts across six parks, plus four $6/session community centers, is better public infrastructure than most comparable US cities. The Portland Parks official pickleball page is one of the most complete and current public parks pickleball resources we've seen.

Worth noting: The BYONET situation at most outdoor parks is the city's biggest usability friction point. A player who drives to Sellwood Park without a net cannot play. Gabriel Park (6 courts with nets, SW Portland) and Laurelhurst Park (2 courts with nets, NE/inner SE) are the clear "arrive and play" outdoor options; the others require preparation.

What's missing (mid-2026): Portland has no bar-and-pickle entertainment venue of the Houston or Atlanta scale. The People's Courts has food and games adjacent to the courts, but it is not primarily a dining/drinking venue. Chicken N Pickle, Dill Dinkers, or a similar national chain has not arrived as of this writing. The west-side gap (large private indoor club between downtown and Beaverton) was filled by Jumbo's Beaverton in 2024.

Data integrity notes

The following venues are in our database with open verification questions:

  • Matt Dishman Community Center — official portland.gov/parks/recreation/pickleball does NOT list Matt Dishman as a current pickleball location. This venue is in our database but may no longer offer pickleball (or may never have). Call (503) 823-3673 before visiting.
  • Rose City Pickleball (Beaverton) — official site indicates this may be a club/association rather than a physical venue; no hours or court count published. Verify at rosecitypickleball.com.
  • THPRD facilities (Babette Horenstein, Tualatin Hills Athletic Center, Conestoga RAC) — pickleball confirmed but court counts not published on official pages. Verify at thprd.org.
  • George Rogers Park / LORAC (Lake Oswego), Summerlake Park (Tigard), Tualatin Community Park — all confirmed from primary-source pages, but some details (court counts, current schedules) are not fully confirmed.
