Where to Play Pickleball in Reno, Nevada (2026)
Last reviewed 16 July 2026 against every venue's primary source. We list 19 open pickleball venues in Reno — 8 fully verified, 9 moreneeds-verificationwhile we close out a specific field, and 2 (Jam On It Pickleball Reno, Electric Pickle Reno) markedcoming-soonand not yet open for play. The 8 verified venues total 55 confirmed courts.
Reno is not a scaled-down version of Las Vegas with better weather. It sits at roughly 4,500 feet on the eastern edge of the Sierra, runs one city parks department instead of four overlapping jurisdictions, and has genuine winters that close unlit courts rather than a single desert-summer window to survive. The market reflects that: one dominant public hub (Reno Tennis Center, 24 courts), one dedicated indoor club that opened in January 2025 (3rd Shot Pickleball), a handful of free City of Reno neighborhood parks, two rec centers with paid indoor drop-in, and a long tail of HOA courts, a physical-therapy-clinic side room, and a sportsdome we haven't finished confirming yet.
That long tail is the honest part of this guide. Of the 19 open Reno venues in our directory, 8 carry the green verified stamp — a specific fact (address, court count, hours, or cost) confirmed against the venue's own website, a City of Reno facility page, or Google Business Profile. The other 9 open venues, plus 2 that haven't opened yet, are real places that either haven't returned our verification calls, publish inconsistent numbers across their own pages, or simply haven't reached the front of our queue. We list them below with exactly what we do and don't know, rather than filling in a plausible-sounding number.
This is not a "top 10" list, and Reno doesn't yet have enough rated indoor clubs to support a merit-ranked "Best of" page (PRINCIPLES bar: 3+ clubs with fresh Google ratings — Reno has one). What follows is organized by what you're actually trying to do: play free outdoors, play indoors on a schedule, join a real club, or figure out whether that court on the map is actually open to you.
The short answer for each type of player
- You want the biggest court count and don't mind paying for a reservation. Reno Tennis Center (2601 Plumas St, 89509) — 24 dedicated hard courts, the largest single verified pickleball site in northern Nevada. Apr–Nov 5 AM–10 PM, Dec–Mar 6 AM–8 PM, booked via CourtReserve with walk-up open play too. 4.4 Google stars on 101 reviews.
- You want air conditioning — or heat, in January. 3rd Shot Pickleball Reno (6895 Sierra Center Pkwy, 89511) — Reno's first dedicated indoor facility, 9 championship-sized courts, full bar, food, and a pro shop. $15/session for guests; membership $672/year with $8 open-play sessions. Mon–Sat 7 AM–10 PM, Sun 7 AM–8 PM. 4.6 stars on 51 reviews.
- You want free outdoor courts and don't need a crowd. Five City of Reno neighborhood parks are fully verified and free, first-come first-served: Mira Loma, Idlewild, and Manzanita (4 courts each), plus Huffaker and Wilkinson (2 courts each).
- You want a weekday indoor drop-in without a club membership. Neil Road Recreation Center (3925 Neil Road, 89502) has 4 indoor wood courts plus 2 outdoor at $5/hr and $3/hr for Reno residents — but it's Mon–Fri 9 AM–9 PM only, closed weekends.
- You're deciding whether a court you found on a map is real. Read the needs-verification section below before you drive across town for Caughlin Athletic Club, Swift Sportsdome, Mogul Park, or one of the HOA listings — we haven't confirmed enough about any of them to promise you'll get on court.
- You're timing a trip around something opening soon. Jam On It Pickleball Reno — 19 indoor courts at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center — is targeting a September 26, 2026 opening. It is not open yet; don't show up early.
Reno Tennis Center — the anchor <a id="anchor"></a>
Reno Tennis Center's 24 courts are more than double the size of any other verified Reno venue — it's a city-affiliated facility run alongside the Washoe County Golf Course and managed through the TennisNation platform, and it's the most-reviewed pickleball venue in the city. One detail worth knowing beyond the short-answer summary above: the Director of Racquet Sports line, (775) 689-2975, also covers several of the free City of Reno parks below — it's effectively the central number for any city pickleball question.
Free City of Reno parks — five verified, lighted, no reservation needed <a id="free"></a>
The City of Reno runs its free outdoor courts on a single standard seasonal schedule: Apr 1–Sep 30, 5 AM–10 PM; Oct 1–Mar 31, 6 AM–7 PM (the shorter winter hours reflect daylight and cold, not a closure). All five below are lighted, first-come first-served, and confirmed against reno.gov facility pages or official grand-opening announcements:
- Mira Loma Park (3000 S. McCarran Blvd, 89502) — 4 courts, opened May 2025. The newest of the five, confirmed via the city's own grand-opening newsflash.
- Idlewild Park (1900 Idlewild Dr, 89509) — 4 courts, set along the Truckee River in one of Reno's older, more established parks.
- Manzanita Park (630 Manzanita Ln, 89509) — 4 courts.
- Huffaker Park (1160 E Huffaker Ln, 89511) — 2 courts, in southeast Reno.
- Wilkinson Park (1201 E Taylor St, 89512) — 2 courts.
That's 16 free, verified outdoor courts across five sites — the largest no-cost pickleball footprint in the city, and the right starting point if you're new to town and don't want to pay or reserve anything.
A sixth free option, Dick Taylor Memorial Park (1140 Beech St, 89512), appears in the city's own Facility Directory with 4 outdoor courts and daily 6 AM–10 PM hours, but we haven't yet independently confirmed those details against a second source, so it stays needs-verification for now — worth a call before a special trip, but not excluded from this guide.
Indoor pickleball — paid, and what's actually confirmed <a id="indoor"></a>
If you want indoor play with real hours rather than a weather gamble, here's what's verified and what isn't:
| Venue | Access | Courts | Hours | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3rd Shot Pickleball Reno | $15/session guest, $672/yr membership ($8 open play) | 9 indoor | Mon–Sat 7 AM–10 PM, Sun 7 AM–8 PM | Verified |
| Neil Road Recreation Center | $5/hr indoor, $3/hr outdoor (resident) | 4 indoor + 2 outdoor | Mon–Fri 9 AM–9 PM, closed Sat–Sun | Verified |
| Evelyn Mount Northeast Community Center | Drop-in; cost not published | 3 indoor (competitive) + 4 outdoor (lined) | Schedule changes monthly — call (775) 334-2262 | Needs-verification |
| Todd's Body Shop Physical Therapy | $5 drop-in (Mon–Thu 7 AM–5 PM) or 24/7 membership ($19/mo + $9 initiation) | 2 indoor | Per membership tier | Needs-verification |
| Swift Sportsdome Pickleball | Court rental, rate not published | Not yet confirmed | Not yet confirmed | Needs-verification |
3rd Shot is the only fully verified full-service indoor club in Reno — per ThisIsReno's coverage, it opened in January 2025 as the city's first dedicated indoor facility, and remains the only one with a bar, pro shop, and membership tiers. Neil Road is the cheapest reliable indoor option but weekdays only. Evelyn Mount genuinely runs indoor and outdoor pickleball, but its schedule changes monthly, so we can't publish reliable hours without a call. Todd's Body Shop is a physical therapy clinic with two indoor courts as a side amenity, confirmed from its own site but not cross-checked. Swift Sportsdome is Nevada's largest indoor sports-entertainment complex and rents pickleball court time at its South Meadows Pkwy site, but neither court count nor rates are published yet.
Coming soon — not open yet <a id="coming-soon"></a>
Two venues are confirmed as real, funded projects that are not open for play:
- Jam On It Pickleball Reno — 19 tournament-grade indoor courts with 30-foot ceilings, planned for Hall 2 North Lot at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center (4590 S. Virginia St). Confirmed from the operator's site: targeting a September 26, 2026 opening, with drop-in pricing already published ($10 standard / $8 premier, $75/court-hour reservations). If it opens as planned it will roughly triple Reno's indoor court count.
- Electric Pickle Reno — an entertainment-format venue (pickleball plus golf simulators, bocce, a restaurant, and live music — the same brand as the Tempe, AZ flagship) planned for the Reno Experience District at Plumb Lane and South Virginia St. Address, court count, and opening date are still unpublished; the "early 2026" target we found has likely already slipped. We'll update this once a firmer date surfaces.
HOA and private-club courts — real, but not open to the public <a id="private"></a>
Reno has the same pattern Las Vegas does, just smaller: courts that exist, show up on maps, and aren't available to a random visitor.
- Caughlin Athletic Club (Southwest Reno) — 4 dedicated pickleball courts, membership-only. No confirmed address yet, so it isn't mapped; treat this as a lead, not a bookable court.
- ArrowCreek Residents' Center (2900 E ArrowCreek Pkwy, 89511) — 4 outdoor and 4 indoor courts per the club's own site, resident/guest amenity, no additional fee.
- Regency at Damonte Ranch — a Toll Brothers 55+ gated community in south Reno with outdoor pickleball and tennis courts inside an 18,000 sq ft clubhouse. Residents and invited guests only; court count unconfirmed.
None of these count toward the 8-verified figure above, and none will appear as "open to the public" until we have first-party confirmation that a non-member can get on court.
Pickleball by area — what's closest <a id="neighborhoods"></a>
- Southwest / Caughlin / South Meadows (89511, 89521): 3rd Shot Pickleball Reno, Huffaker Park, Swift Sportsdome (needs-verification), Regency at Damonte Ranch (needs-verification).
- Central / Old Southwest (89509): Reno Tennis Center, Idlewild Park, Manzanita Park.
- South Reno / Damonte Ranch (89502, 89521): Mira Loma Park, Neil Road Recreation Center.
- North / Northeast (89512): Wilkinson Park, Dick Taylor Memorial Park (needs-verification), Evelyn Mount Northeast Community Center (needs-verification).
- West Reno / Mogul (89523): Mogul Park (needs-verification).
Full addresses, hours, and access details for every venue named above are in the sections that follow, and on each venue's own listing page linked throughout this guide.
Elevation, seasons, and the local rhythm <a id="seasons"></a>
Reno's pickleball calendar follows its geography. At roughly 4,500 feet, summers are warm and dry but rarely brutal — nothing like Las Vegas's May–September survival mode — while winters bring genuine cold and occasional snow. The City of Reno's shorter Oct–Mar park hours (6 AM–7 PM vs. summer's 5 AM–10 PM) reflect daylight and cold rather than a closure, though unlit or icy courts do go quiet for stretches. Indoor capacity is thin relative to demand: 3rd Shot's 9 courts and Neil Road's weekday-only 4 indoor courts are the entire reliably-open indoor inventory today. If Jam On It's 19 courts open on schedule in September 2026, that changes fast — worth checking this guide again closer to that date. And because 9 of Reno's 19 open venues are still working through our verification queue, a phone call before a special trip to anything flagged needs-verification below is the right move — a thin record means we haven't confirmed the details yet, not that the court doesn't exist.
What's still needs-verification, in one place <a id="needs-verification"></a>
For transparency, every open Reno venue not counted in the "8 verified" figure above, with what we know and don't:
- Caughlin Athletic Club — 4 courts claimed, no confirmed address, private membership.
- Hidden Valley Regional Park (4740 Parkway Dr, 89502) — a Washoe County regional park with 6 courts (4 with nets, 2 lined per the county's own park directory), free; hours not published.
- Evelyn Mount Northeast Community Center (1301 Valley Road, 89512) — 3 indoor + 4 outdoor, schedule changes monthly.
- Swift Sportsdome Pickleball (1465 S. Meadows Pkwy, 89521) — indoor rental confirmed to exist; court count and rates not yet published.
- Mogul Park (110 Mogul Mountain Dr, 89523) — free, lined courts, count unconfirmed, dawn-to-dusk.
- Regency at Damonte Ranch — 55+ HOA courts, residents/guests only, count unconfirmed.
- ArrowCreek Residents' Center (2900 E ArrowCreek Pkwy, 89511) — 4 outdoor + 4 indoor per the club's own site, residents/guests only.
- Todd's Body Shop Physical Therapy (1351 Corporate Blvd, 89502) — 2 indoor courts, clinic-run drop-in and membership.
- Dick Taylor Memorial Park (1140 Beech St, 89512) — 4 outdoor courts per the city's Facility Directory, daily 6 AM–10 PM.
- Jam On It Pickleball Reno —
coming-soon, targeting September 26, 2026. - Electric Pickle Reno —
coming-soon, no confirmed date.
If you can confirm any of the above — an address, an accurate court count, current hours — tell us and we re-verify reader corrections within 48 hours.
How this guide was built (and what to do when something is wrong)
Every venue above appears on our Reno city page as a per-court listing with address, phone, hours, surface, and access cost. 8 of the 19 open listings carry the green "verified" stamp as of today; 9 more are needs-verification and 2 (Jam On It, Electric Pickle) are coming-soon and not yet open. We did not build this from a Maps scrape or a competitor aggregator; it was assembled directly from data/courts.json on the date stamped at the top of this page, with every fact traced to the source cited for that record. Reno-Sparks is Nevada's second-largest pickleball market after Las Vegas — see the Nevada state guide for the wider picture, including Sparks (7 venues, 1 verified) and the Carson Valley/Tahoe corridor.

Engineer handoff
This guide reuses the city-guide template established for Las Vegas, Austin, San Antonio, and Naperville — no new template work needed. target_path is /pickleball/united-states/nevada/reno/guide/, under the existing Reno city page.
Per-court links were generated against the live data/courts.json query (sport === "pickleball" && city === "Reno" && state === "NV" && status !== "closed", 19 records) and cross-checked against courtPathAbs() in build.js, so every link resolves to /pickleball/united-states/nevada/reno/{record-id}/. Two linked records (Jam On It, Electric Pickle) are coming-soon — confirmed via the Naperville guide's precedent that these still get a built page, just tagged accordingly.
Reno doesn't yet clear the 3+ rated-club bar for a merit-ranked "Best pickleball clubs in Reno" page (only 3rd Shot has a fresh Google rating today) — worth revisiting once Jam On It opens in September 2026. Per PRINCIPLES §1, this guide does not pad the 9 needs-verification and 2 coming-soon venues with invented specifics; unconfirmed facts are flagged as such rather than guessed.
