Where to Play Pickleball in Sioux Falls, South Dakota (2026)

12 verified pickleball venues in Sioux Falls, South Dakota — the free 12-court Linda Erickson Pickleball Complex, The Jar Pickleball Club's 8 indoor courts, Remedy Pickleball Pub downtown, Sanford's indoor and seasonal facilities, church-gym open play, and an honest look at 13 more Sioux Falls venues still pending verification.

Where to Play Pickleball in Sioux Falls, South Dakota (2026)

Last reviewed 16 July 2026 against every venue's primary source. We list 12 open and verified pickleball venues in Sioux Falls. A further 13 open Sioux Falls records — free city parks, church gyms, Sanford wellness centers, and a couple of newer entertainment spots — remain needs-verification: we have a name, an address in most cases, and a lead on the details, but haven't yet confirmed everything against a primary source. That's a real gap and we're not going to smooth it over. More on why, and what it means for you, below.

Sioux Falls punches above its size on pickleball. The anchor is the Linda Erickson Pickleball Complex at the Avera on Louise Health Campus — South Dakota's largest dedicated pickleball site, 12 free outdoor courts open to anyone, first-come-first-served, with an indoor companion building next door. Layer on The Jar Pickleball Club, the state's first purpose-built indoor pickleball facility with 8 courts, and Remedy Pickleball Pub, a downtown brewery-adjacent club that grew from 3 courts to 4 on demand within its first year, and Sioux Falls has real infrastructure for a city its size — not just a handful of striped tennis courts.

What's less solid, and worth saying plainly up front: Sioux Falls has a wide informal network of church gyms, senior centers, and wellness-center satellite locations running pickleball on their own schedules, and our dataset is still catching up to several of them. We found leads — real names, real addresses in most cases — for 13 additional open venues: city parks like Laurel Oak and Riverdale, a Sioux Falls School District elementary school with 6 outdoor courts, both Sanford Wellness Center satellite locations, GreatLife's two membership clubs, a downtown entertainment venue, a community center, and even a KOA campground with a single new court. We haven't confirmed court counts, hours, or (in a few cases) even a full address for these yet, so we're listing them honestly as "needs verification" rather than dressing them up with details we can't stand behind. That's the whole point of this directory: we'd rather tell you what we don't know than guess.

This is not a rankings list — none of the Sioux Falls venues in our dataset carry a fetched Google rating yet, so we don't have the review volume to publish a merit-based "best of" page, and we won't fabricate one. It's a map of every venue we know about, organized by what you're actually trying to do, with the verified venues clearly separated from the ones you should call ahead to confirm.

The short answer for each type of player

  • You want the biggest, free, no-membership option in the state. Linda Erickson Pickleball Complex (6800 S Louise Ave) — 12 outdoor courts, free public play 6 AM–10 PM daily, first-come-first-served. A membership through Avera Sports Institute reserves 4 of the 12 courts in advance if you want to guarantee a spot.
  • You want a real indoor club with open play sorted by level, leagues, and extended hours. The Jar Pickleball Club (3701 S Western Ave) — South Dakota's first and largest dedicated indoor pickleball facility, 8 courts. Free daily-player registration with pay-per-court rates, or annual Star ($499/yr, $6/hr court rate) and Patriot ($749/yr, $4/hr) memberships.
  • You want pickleball with a beer and a downtown vibe. Remedy Pickleball Pub (100 N Reid Street) — 4 indoor courts attached to Remedy Brewing Co., booked through an app with 1,800+ members. $20/hr off-peak, $30/hr prime time (weekday evenings and all weekend).
  • You want the cheapest possible indoor drop-in and don't mind city-rec-center energy. Westside Recreation Center (8701 W 32nd St) — a City of Sioux Falls facility, daily pass required, Mon–Fri 5 AM–9 PM.
  • You're 55+ and want a senior-focused setting with a regular schedule. Active Generations West (2300 W 46th St) or Active Generations East (5500 E Active Generations Place) — both run open play for all skill levels most weekdays, membership or day pass required.
  • You want free, no-cost play and don't mind a fixed weekly window. First Christian Reformed Church (2901 E 26th St) runs free open play on 3 indoor courts Tuesdays 6:30–8:30 PM; Gloria Dei Lutheran Church (5500 E 57th St) runs free open play on 3 indoor courts Tue/Thu mornings 8–10 AM plus Thursday evenings 6:45–8:45 PM.
  • You want a seasonal, multi-sport-complex option. Sanford Pentagon Pickleball (2210 W Pentagon Pl) designates 2 courts for open play October–April, $5/day or a $60 season pass. Huether Family Match Pointe (4210 N Bobhalla Drive, also at the Sanford Sports Complex) rents indoor pickleball courts year-round at $24/hr.
  • You already have an Avera Sports or YMCA membership and want to use it. Avera Human Performance Center Indoor Pickleball (same 6800 S Louise Ave campus as Linda Erickson) has 6 indoor courts for $30/month. YMCA of Sioux Falls (220 S Minnesota Ave) runs pickleball as part of its racquetball-court programming, membership required, day passes available.

The free public parks anchor: Linda Erickson Pickleball Complex <a id="linda-erickson"></a>

Linda Erickson Pickleball Complex (6800 S Louise Ave, 57108) is the single biggest reason Sioux Falls punches above its weight on pickleball. It's part of the Avera on Louise Health Campus, opened in 2023, and it's South Dakota's largest dedicated pickleball complex at 12 regulation outdoor courts. Public access is free and first-come-first-served, 6 AM–10 PM daily. If you want a guaranteed court rather than showing up and hoping, Avera Sports Institute sells a membership that reserves 4 of the 12 courts for advance booking — call (605) 322-3278 for current terms.

Right next door on the same campus is the indoor half of the same project: Avera Human Performance Center Indoor Pickleball, 6 indoor hard courts, $30/month for access, open the same 6 AM–10 PM daily hours. Our dataset carries these as two separate records — one for the free outdoor complex, one for the paid indoor building — because that's how Avera itself structures access, not because we're double-counting a single facility.

The dedicated indoor pickleball clubs <a id="clubs"></a>

Sioux Falls has two facilities built specifically for pickleball, not retrofitted from another sport.

The Jar Pickleball Club (3701 S Western Ave, also branded "The PB Jar" at thepbjar.com) opened in November 2025 as South Dakota's first and largest dedicated indoor pickleball club — 8 courts, per the opening coverage in SiouxFalls.Business (the official site itself doesn't publish a court count, which is why this record is verified rather than fully first-party-confirmed on every field). Hours run early and late most days: Sunday 8 AM–8 PM, Monday and Wednesday 7 AM–9 PM, Tuesday and Thursday 5 AM–9 PM, Friday and Saturday 7 AM–10 PM. You can register as a free daily player and pay per court, or buy an annual membership — Star at $499/yr with a $6/hr court rate, or Patriot at $749/yr with a $4/hr rate — with monthly options also available.

Remedy Pickleball Pub (100 N Reid Street, 57104) is downtown, attached to Remedy Brewing Co. in a converted warehouse. It opened with 3 courts and added a 4th due to demand, according to local business coverage — a nice, verifiable signal that the concept caught on. Court reservations run through an app with more than 1,800 registered members. Pricing is time-of-day based: $20/hr in non-prime windows, $30/hr during prime time (weekdays 5–10 PM, Friday 1–11 PM, all day Saturday and Sunday). Hours are Sunday 10 AM–10 PM, Monday–Thursday 5 AM–10 PM, Friday–Saturday 5 AM–11 PM.

Sanford Sports facilities <a id="sanford"></a>

Sanford Health runs two separate pickleball setups in Sioux Falls under its sports-complex brand, distinct from the Avera facilities above.

Sanford Pentagon Pickleball (2210 W Pentagon Pl, 57107) designates Courts 4–5 of its multi-sport complex for pickleball open play. It's seasonal — October through April, per the official Sanford Sports schedule — so this isn't a year-round option. Cost is $5/day, $10/month ($5 for Sanford wellness members), or a $60 season pass.

Huether Family Match Pointe (4210 N Bobhalla Drive, at the Sanford Sports Complex, 57107) is a tennis center that also rents out indoor pickleball courts, at a flat $24/hr, year-round. Hours shift seasonally: Fall/Winter/Spring runs Monday–Thursday 9 AM–10 PM, Friday 10 AM–8 PM, weekends 8 AM–8 PM; Summer hours are shorter and the facility is closed weekends. Court count isn't published on the official site, so treat it as "courts available to rent," not a specific number.

Two more Sanford-branded locations — Wellness Center Oxbow and Wellness Center Tea/Ellis — also run pickleball but aren't fully verified yet; see the needs-verification section below.

City recreation and senior centers <a id="rec-senior"></a>

Westside Recreation Center (8701 W 32nd St, 57106) is a City of Sioux Falls facility offering pickleball among its shared indoor sport courts (also used for basketball, volleyball, and racquetball). A daily pass is required, with membership options available; court count isn't published on the official siouxfalls.gov page. Hours are Monday–Friday 5 AM–9 PM, Saturday 7 AM–5 PM, Sunday 10 AM–5 PM.

Active Generations West (2300 W 46th St, 57105) and Active Generations East (5500 E Active Generations Place, 57110) are Sioux Falls' senior-focused recreation centers, both running pickleball open play for all skill levels — not exclusively seniors. West's schedule is Mon/Wed/Fri 6:30 AM–6:30 PM, Tue 6:30 AM–9:30 PM, Thu 6:30 AM–8 PM, Sat 8 AM–3 PM. East runs Mon–Fri 6:30 AM–8 PM, Sat 8 AM–3 PM, Sun 10 AM–3 PM. Both require membership or a day pass; neither publishes current pricing on its site, so call (605) 336-6722 for current rates. Neither location publishes a court count.

YMCA of Sioux Falls (220 S Minnesota Ave, 57104) confirms pickleball on its racquetball-court programming page. Hours are Monday–Friday 6 AM–9 PM, Saturday 7 AM–5 PM, closed Sunday. Membership required, day pass available. Court count isn't published.

Free church-gym open play <a id="churches"></a>

Two churches run free, no-cost pickleball open play in their gyms, both cross-listed by the local Sioux Falls Area Pickleball Club (sfapickleball.org) as community play sites:

A third church, Our Saviors Lutheran, also runs indoor pickleball with a suggested donation — see the needs-verification section, since we haven't confirmed its court count against a primary source yet.

What still needs verification — and why the gap is unusually wide <a id="needs-verification"></a>

Here's the honest accounting. We list 12 Sioux Falls pickleball venues as verified. We have leads on 13 more open venues in the city — more than half of what we've found in total. Here's what we know about each, organized by type:

City parks and a school: Laurel Oak Park (3401 E 49th St) shows 5 outdoor hard courts in city park data. Riverdale Park (2000 E 24th St) shows 6 outdoor courts. Menlo Park shows 6 outdoor hard courts with permanent lines (bring your own net) per the official City of Sioux Falls parks directory — promising, since it's sourced from a primary page, but we haven't independently confirmed hours or cross-checked the address yet. Terry Redlin Elementary, a Sioux Falls School District school site, shows 6 outdoor courts, but school-site courts often have restricted public access (school hours, events, community-use policies) that we haven't confirmed — don't assume it's open the way a city park is without checking first. Memorial Park (W 26th St & Sertoma Ave) has a multi-sport court that includes pickleball, per city park data, but court count and hours aren't confirmed.

Sanford Wellness Center satellites: Two more Sanford-branded locations run indoor pickleball beyond the Pentagon and Match Pointe facilities covered above — Wellness Center Oxbow (4201 S Oxbow Ave) and Wellness Center Tea/Ellis (8701 W 32nd St, the same address as Westside Recreation Center, a coincidence worth double-checking before you drive over). Both are membership-based with multiple daily time slots per the local pickleball club's schedule page, but neither has a confirmed court count.

GreatLife-managed clubs: GreatLife Woodlake Athletic Club (4600 S Tennis Ln) confirms pickleball as a club amenity with open-play windows (Mon–Fri 8–11 AM and 1:30–3:30 PM, Sat 8–9:30 AM) — but it's played on basketball courts converted for pickleball, not dedicated courts, and no court count is published. GreatLIFE at Avera McKennan Fitness Center (3400 S Southeastern Ave) similarly confirms scheduled open play (Sun 10 AM–noon, Mon–Fri 10 AM–1 PM, plus Monday and Tue/Thu evening blocks) included with membership, with GreatLIFE having taken over management of this location from Avera in December 2024 — but again, no court count on the official page.

A third church: Our Saviors Lutheran Church (909 W 33rd St) runs indoor gym pickleball Monday 8–10 AM and 7–9 PM plus Tuesday–Friday 8 AM–noon, suggested donation, liability waiver required. Contact is a named individual (David Haugen) rather than a facility phone line, which is why we're holding this at needs-verification rather than treating a personal contact as a confirmed primary source.

Entertainment and hospitality: The Social Sioux Falls (301 S Thompson Ave) confirms private outdoor courts, reservable by email, membership or paid access — but court count and hours aren't published. Sioux Falls KOA Journey (1401 E Robur Dr) added a single new pickleball court, confirmed via KOA's own campgrounds-with-pickleball blog post, but access requires a campsite or cabin reservation (it's included in your stay, not a stand-alone destination) and the amenities page itself returns an error when we try to check hours directly.

Community center: Morningside Community Center (2400 S Bahnson Ave), next to Harvey Dunn School, offers free indoor drop-in pickleball — local radio coverage (973kkrc.com) confirmed Monday/Wednesday evening open play during the summer season, and the city's own recreation booking system lists leagues at this location, but we haven't confirmed year-round hours or a court count from a single authoritative source yet.

If you run or know any of these venues and can confirm details, or if you spot an error above, that's exactly the kind of correction that moves a listing from needs-verification to verified — accuracy here is the whole point of the directory.

Template: city-guide (same as Omaha, Washington DC, Austin, Chicago, Denver). First South Dakota city guide — the state page (/pickleball/united-states/south-dakota/) already has a South Dakota intro blurb referencing this city and Linda Erickson/The Jar by name; this guide should link back to that state page once it exists as a built page, and the state page should link forward to this guide.

Data note for Verifier: the Sioux Falls open/verified gap (25 open, 12 verified) is real and called out explicitly rather than smoothed over, matching the Omaha guide's posture. No data-quality issues were introduced or altered in this content pass. Two closed duplicate records already exist and are excluded correctly by status: the-pb-jar (duplicate of the-jar-pickleball-club-sioux-falls-sd) and menlo-park-pickleball-courts-sioux-falls (duplicate of the open menlo-park-pickleball-courts) — both already marked closed with duplicate notes, no action needed. Zero Sioux Falls records carry a fetched google_rating, so this guide (like Omaha and the Nebraska state guide) explicitly avoids a merit-based "best of" ranking rather than fabricate one.

Link convention: venue names link to /pickleball/united-states/south-dakota/sioux-falls/<record-id>/, matching courtPathAbs() in build.js — confirmed via slugify() and stateByAbbr['SD'].slug === 'south-dakota' in data/states.json.
