Where to Play Pickleball in Wichita, Kansas (2026)

The first Kansas city guide: all 16 verified pickleball venues in Wichita — the city's five free outdoor park sites, five $4-drop-in indoor rec centers, Ralph Wulz Riverside Tennis Center's 15 courts, and private clubs Chicken N Pickle, TapNPaddles, and The Pickle Club ICT.

Where to Play Pickleball in Wichita, Kansas (2026)

Last reviewed 15 July 2026 against every venue's primary source. We list 16 open and verified pickleball venues in Wichita, totalling 83+ confirmed courts (one additional verified club has an unpublished court count). A further 16 Wichita-area records remain needs-verification, most of them Greater Wichita YMCA branches whose court counts haven't cleared our verification bar yet.

Wichita's pickleball scene runs on three systems that don't usually get compared to each other in the same place. The City of Wichita Parks & Recreation department runs a genuinely deep public network — five free outdoor court sites and five separate $4-per-session indoor rec centers, all listed on one official page (wichita.gov/717/Pickleball) with per-location hours, phone numbers, and drop-in windows. Sitting alongside that is a small but serious private-club tier: two large indoor operations (Chicken N Pickle and TapNPaddles) with a combined 23 courts, plus a boutique club and a training-only studio. And then there's the Greater Wichita YMCA, which almost certainly has real pickleball at six branches across the metro — but only one of those six (West YMCA) has cleared our verification bar with a confirmed court count, hours, and pricing. The other five are named later in this guide, honestly, as a watch list rather than a recommendation.

This is the first Court Scout guide for Kansas — Wichita is the state's largest city and, on the data we've verified so far, its deepest pickleball market. This is not a rankings list. It's a map of every verified open venue, organized by what you're actually trying to do.

The short answer for each type of player

  • You want free outdoor courts tonight. Edgemoor Park (5815 E 9th, 67208) has 12 outdoor courts, 6 of them lighted — the single largest free outdoor site in the city. Seneca Park (202 S Seneca St, 67213) has 6 unlighted courts on the west side. Both are dawn-to-dusk, no fee, first-come-first-served.
  • You want cheap indoor drop-in play. The City of Wichita runs $4-per-session indoor pickleball at five rec centers, each with its own weekly window — check the schedule for the location nearest you before you drive over, since the drop-in hours are narrow and vary center to center (details below).
  • You want a private club with reservations and a social scene. Chicken N Pickle - Wichita (1240 N Greenwich Rd, 67206) is the city's highest-rated pickleball venue on Google (4.4★, 2,679 reviews) — an entertainment complex with 11 courts, a restaurant, and a bar. TapNPaddles Wichita (4956 E 35th St N, 67220) is the larger dedicated club: 12 indoor courts, day-player and membership pricing.
  • You want the best public paid facility in the city. Ralph Wulz Riverside Tennis Center (551 N Nims St, 67203) is a City of Wichita facility with 15 courts (9 outdoor lighted + 6 indoor), online reservations up to 7 days out, and resident rates as low as $5/hr outdoor.
  • You're training seriously and don't need open play. The Flight Club (4830 East Lincoln St, 67218) is a 2-court, reservation-only studio built for leagues, lessons, and drills — not casual drop-in.
  • You're a YMCA member. West YMCA Pickle Center (6940 Newell St, 67212) is the only Greater Wichita YMCA branch verified so far — 4 dedicated indoor courts, members play free, non-members pay a $10 guest fee. Five more branches (East, North, South, Northwest, and the Downtown Y) almost certainly offer pickleball too, but we haven't confirmed their court counts yet — see the needs-verification section below before you drive across town expecting a specific setup.
  • You're a WSU student or Campus Rec member. WSU Campus Recreation Outdoor Pickleball Courts, three lighted courts west of the Heskett Center, are free for enrolled students, with Campus Rec membership required for others.

The City of Wichita network: free outdoor parks <a id="outdoor-parks"></a>

The City of Wichita Parks & Recreation Department maintains four outdoor pickleball park sites, all free, all dawn-to-dusk, all listed on the city's official wichita.gov/717/Pickleball hub. None require a reservation.

  • Edgemoor Park Pickleball Courts (5815 E 9th, 67208) — 12 outdoor courts, 6 lighted. The largest free outdoor site in the city. Hard/concrete surface, permanent nets. The city's own facility page states plainly: "There is no cost to play at these courts." Worth noting: this park sits at the exact same address as Edgemoor Recreation Center (below), which adds 3 more indoor courts a few steps away — together, the Edgemoor site has 15 total pickleball courts, tying Riverside Tennis Center for the largest concentration of courts anywhere in Wichita.
  • Seneca Park Pickleball Courts (202 S Seneca St, 67213) — 6 outdoor courts, not lighted. Hard surface. The city's facility page explicitly confirms "no fee to use these courts."
  • Buffalo Park Pickleball Courts (10201 Hardtner Rd, 67235) — 2 lighted outdoor courts, built in 2023. One of the newer additions to the city's network, out on the far west side.
  • Osage Park Pickleball Courts (2121 W 31st St S, 67217) — 2 outdoor courts, installed in 2021, not lighted. The city's page confirms "no cost to play at these courts."

That's 22 confirmed free outdoor courts across four sites (26 if you count the additional access provided by the Edgemoor site's rec center). A fifth site, Aley Park, is also listed on the city's pickleball page but its court count hasn't been published yet — it's in the needs-verification section below rather than counted here.

The City of Wichita network: $4 indoor drop-in at five rec centers <a id="rec-centers"></a>

Separate from the outdoor parks, Wichita Parks & Rec runs indoor pickleball at five community/recreation centers. All five use the same pricing structure — $4 per drop-in session, ages 18+, per the city's Summer 2025 open-pickleball schedule — but each center has its own narrow weekly window, so check before you go. All five are administered through the same wichita.gov/717/Pickleball hub and share wood/tile indoor court surfaces.

  • Edgemoor Recreation Center (5815 E 9th St, 67208) — 3 indoor courts. Drop-in: Sun 1:00–3:00 PM; Tue & Thu 1:15–3:15 PM. Phone (316) 688-9392. Co-located with the 12-court outdoor Edgemoor Park above.
  • Boston Recreation Center (6655 E Zimmerly St, 67207) — 3 indoor courts. Drop-in: Wed 7:00–9:00 PM only — the sole evening window among the five centers, useful if you work daytime hours. Phone (316) 688-9301.
  • Linwood Recreation Center (1901 S Kansas Ave, 67211) — 3 indoor courts. The most generous schedule of the five: Mon 11am–4pm; Tue & Thu 11:30am–4pm; Wed & Fri 9am–4pm. Phone (316) 337-9191.
  • Orchard Recreation Center (4808 W 9th St, 67212) — 3 indoor courts. Drop-in: Mon–Fri 8:00–9:00 AM & 11:00 AM–1:00 PM — two windows most weekdays. Phone (316) 337-9244.
  • Evergreen Recreation Center (2700 N Woodland Ave, 67220) — 2 indoor courts. Drop-in: Mon–Fri 8:00–10:00 AM. Phone (316) 909-8036.

Together the five rec centers add 14 confirmed indoor courts to the city's free-and-cheap network — on top of the 22 free outdoor courts above. That's 36 city-run courts across nine sites before you even reach a private club. A tenth city site, McAdams Recreation Center, also appears on the city's pickleball page but stays needs-verification pending a confirmed court count.

One honest caveat: the drop-in windows above are drawn from the city's Summer 2025 open-pickleball schedule (the most recent official document indexed for each center). Wichita Parks & Rec updates these seasonally, so confirm the current window by phone before making a special trip, especially outside summer.

Ralph Wulz Riverside Tennis Center — the city's biggest single facility <a id="riverside"></a>

Ralph Wulz Riverside Tennis Center (551 N Nims St, 67203) is a City of Wichita tennis-and-pickleball facility, and at 15 total courts (9 outdoor lighted + 6 indoor) it's tied with the combined Edgemoor site for the most courts at any single Wichita location.

Unlike the free parks and the $4 rec centers, Riverside runs on an hourly reservation system, bookable online up to 7 days in advance:

  • Outdoor: $5/hr resident, $7/hr non-resident before 5 PM; $10/$13/hr after 5 PM and weekends.
  • Indoor: $20/hr resident, $25/hr non-resident before 5 PM; $25/$32/hr after 5 PM and weekends.
  • Paddle rental: $2.

Hours: Mon–Thu 8:30am–9:30pm; Fri 8:30am–9pm; Sat 7am–5pm; Sun 9am–6pm. Phone (316) 337-9257. It carries the highest Google rating of any city-run facility in this guide — 4.7★ from 84 reviews. If you want guaranteed court time without a club membership, this is the closest Wichita gets to a full-service public facility.

Private clubs <a id="clubs"></a>

  • Chicken N Pickle - Wichita (1240 N Greenwich Road, 67206) — 11 pickleball courts at the Plazzio Center entertainment complex, per the venue's own private-events page. It's the eat-and-play chain's Wichita location, combining courts with a restaurant and bar. Hours: Mon–Wed 7am–10pm; Thu 7am–11pm; Fri–Sat 7am–midnight; Sun 7am–10pm. Court rental: indoor $20/hr off-peak, $40/hr peak (M–F 5–9pm, weekends); outdoor $10/hr off-peak, $20/hr peak, with a $5/hr summer outdoor special (late May–early September). Late-night (9pm–close) courts run $10/hr. Paddle rental $4. It's also the most-reviewed pickleball venue anywhere in this guide by a wide margin — 4.4★ from 2,679 Google reviews.
  • TapNPaddles Wichita (4956 E 35th St N, 67220) — 12 indoor courts at the District 96 development, founded 2024. Day-player rate: $8/person/hr, or $32/hr for a private court. Three membership tiers (Elite/Plus/Choice) for regulars. Hours: Mon–Thu 8am–10pm; Fri–Sat 8am–11pm; Sun 8am–8pm. Phone (316) 241-7408. At 12 courts, it's the single largest dedicated indoor pickleball operation in Wichita.
  • The Pickle Club ICT (5228 W Central Ave, 67212) — a west-side indoor club, established March 2022. Court rental $24/90min or $32/2hr per court (plus tax); guest fee $5.10/90min or $6.80/2hr per person; memberships $90/3mo or $150/6mo. Hours: Mon–Thu 8am–8pm; Fri 8am–9:30pm; Sat 8am–5pm; Sun 1–7pm. Reach them at [email protected] — no phone is published on the official site. The club's exact court count isn't published anywhere on its own site, so we can't state a number here; everything else about it is confirmed.
  • The Flight Club (4830 East Lincoln Street, 67218) — a small, climate-controlled 2-court southeast-side studio, established 2025. This is the one venue in this guide that is not built for casual drop-in play: it runs leagues, classes, drills, and private lessons only, with court reservations at $35/hr. If you want a serious lesson or league rather than an open-play session, this is the option; if you just want to show up and play tonight, one of the rec centers or free parks will serve you better.

The Greater Wichita YMCA <a id="ymca"></a>

The Greater Wichita YMCA runs pickleball programming across six branches metro-wide, per its own ymcawichita.org/programs/adult-and-youth-sports/pickleball page. Only one of the six has cleared our verification bar with a confirmed court count, hours, and pricing:

  • West YMCA Pickle Center (6940 Newell St, 67212) — 4 dedicated indoor courts (28'x60', professional-grade surface), confirmed via the branch's own program page. Members play at no extra cost; non-member court reservation is $10/hr, non-member guest fee $10. Hours: Mon–Thu 4:30am–10pm; Fri 4:30am–9pm; Sat–Sun 6:30am–7pm. Phone (316) 942-2271. Runs open play, leagues, and instruction.

The other five branches — Robert D. Love Downtown YMCA, Dennis Schoenebeck North YMCA, Richard A. Devore South YMCA, Steve Clark YMCA, and Ken Shannon Northwest YMCA — all appear on the Y's own pickleball program page, but none has a confirmed court count, hours, or pricing in our dataset yet. We're naming them here so you know they exist, not recommending a specific setup at any of them. If you're a YMCA member near one of these five branches, call ahead rather than assuming a West-YMCA-style dedicated pickleball setup.

Wichita State University <a id="wsu"></a>

WSU Campus Recreation Outdoor Pickleball Courts (1845 Fairmount St, 67260) — 3 outdoor hard courts, lighted, located west of the Heskett Center. Opened April 2025 after moving from an earlier campus location to make way for a new softball facility. Free for enrolled WSU students; Campus Recreation membership required for non-students, with guest access available alongside an enrolled student or member. Equipment checkout at the Heskett Center guest-services desk (non-marking shoes required). Hours are seasonal: summer (June 1–Aug 16) Mon–Fri 7am–8pm, Sat–Sun 1–6pm; fall/spring (Aug 17 on) Mon–Fri 6am–10pm, Sat 10am–7pm, Sun 1–8pm. Phone (316) 978-3456.

What's still needs-verification <a id="needs-verification"></a>

Sixteen additional Wichita-area pickleball records exist in our dataset today but haven't cleared the bar for a confirmed listing — most commonly because a court count, address, or set of hours hasn't been confirmed from a primary source yet. We're naming them here honestly rather than either hiding them or guessing at details we haven't confirmed:

  • Five more YMCA branches (Robert D. Love Downtown, Dennis Schoenebeck North, Richard A. Devore South, Steve Clark, and Ken Shannon Northwest) — see the YMCA section above.
  • Sherwood Glen Park Pickleball Courts — a half-sized multi-sport court with pickleball lines at 37th St N and Womer; reportedly free, first-come-first-served, but requires a portable net (none provided) and the exact court count isn't published.
  • WSU Campus Pickleball Courts — a second dataset record describing the same April 2025 opening, same address, and same story as the verified WSU Campus Recreation courts above. This looks like a near-duplicate of the verified record rather than a separate venue; we're flagging it for the Verifier to merge or remove rather than treating it as a second WSU site.
  • Genesis Health Clubs - Rock Road (1551 N Rock Rd) — a large membership health club whose official location page lists indoor pickleball among its amenities, but doesn't publish a court count.
  • Sedgwick County Park — multiple independent sources describe 6 dedicated outdoor courts, but the county's own park page doesn't confirm the number, so it stays unlisted here pending a primary-source check.
  • Aley Park — appears on the city's own wichita.gov/717/Pickleball page, but without a published court count.
  • McAdams Recreation Center — a City of Wichita community center (also known as Carl G. Brewer Community Center) listed on the city's facilities and pickleball pages, court count unconfirmed.
  • FLC Family Life Center (Immanuel Baptist Church) — the church's own site confirms pickleball among its multi-use facility's activities; no court count published.
  • Oaklawn Activity Center — a Derby Recreation Commission facility serving south Wichita; lists indoor gym activities but no confirmed pickleball court count.
  • Rolling Hills Country Club and Reflection Ridge Golf Club — two private clubs whose own amenities pages mention pickleball (Reflection Ridge specifically cites 2 regulation courts, key-access, first-come rotation among members), but neither has cleared full verification yet.

One additional record, Brewer Community Center Pickleball (1329 E 16th St), is excluded from this guide entirely — the city's own page lists it as "closed for improvements" as of this writing, so it doesn't count toward Wichita's open-venue total above.

Template: city-guide (same as the Washington DC, Kansas City MO, and Indianapolis guides). Uses target_path / canonical_city_page from front matter — this is the first Kansas guide, so it also establishes the pattern for any future Overland Park / Lenexa / Topeka guides.

Data-integrity flag for the Verifier: wsu-campus-pickleball-courts (needs-verification) appears to be a near-duplicate of wsu-campus-recreation-outdoor-pickleball-courts (verified) — same address (1845 Fairmount St), same April 2025 opening story, same 3-court count. Worth a merge-or-remove pass rather than carrying both records forward.

Court-count discrepancy already resolved in the dataset, noted here for transparency: Chicken N Pickle Wichita's court count was corrected from 10 to 11 on 2026-05-31 after the venue's own private-events page was found to state "eleven pickleball courts" explicitly, while VisitWichita's secondary listing says 10. The verified record (and this guide) uses the primary-source figure (11).

Link convention: All 16 verified venue names in this guide link to /pickleball/united-states/kansas/wichita/<id>/ using each record's real id field from data/courts.json, confirmed against courtPathAbs() in build.js. None of the 16 needs-verification venues are linked — named in bold text only, consistent with the DC/Indianapolis/Knoxville/Lexington/Sarasota/Kansas City guides' treatment of their own needs-verification clusters.
