Free outdoor pickleball at Hunter Park — 3 dedicated courts and 1 tennis/pickleball shared court at 105 Van Zandt Ave (entrance off Third St on Dyers Gate). Newport was the first RI community to establish a dedicated public pickleball court, converting three tennis courts here in 2016 with state grant assistance. Courts confirmed open by Newport This Week (Nov 2023) reporting on Parks Commission review. Ongoing organized play (beginner Wed 6–7:30pm, intermediate Mon 6–7:30pm, advanced Fri 5–7pm). Note: newportri.gov guide listed courts as "coming very soon" as of June 2026, possibly referring to a court upgrade project separate from the existing courts.
