How it works

Everyone plays, everyone scores

The Americano draw pairs each player with the partners they have had least, then matches pairs against the opponents they have met least — the same balancing our round robin generator uses. Mexicano re-draws every round from the live leaderboard. Sit-outs go to whoever has played most, so games stay even. Add rounds as long as you have court time.

Frequently asked questions

What is a padel Americano?

A social format where you change partner every round. Each match is played to a fixed number of points (often 16, 21, 24 or 32 in total), every player keeps the points their side wins, and the player with the most points at the end wins. Partners and opponents rotate so you play with as many people as possible.

What is the difference between Americano and Mexicano?

In an Americano every round is drawn in advance. In a Mexicano only the first round is: after that, each round is drawn from the leaderboard, so the top four play together on court 1 (1st and 4th against 2nd and 3rd), the next four on court 2, and so on. Matches get closer as the event goes on.

How does scoring work with a fixed points total?

Every rally scores a point, and the match ends when the agreed total has been played — for example 24 points, finishing 15–9. Enter one side’s points and the tool fills in the other. Choose free scoring if you play timed matches instead.

What if the number of players isn’t a multiple of four?

Then some players sit out each round. The tool rotates the sit-outs so they are shared evenly, and shows points per match next to the total so nobody is ranked down just for having sat out more.

Does it work for pickleball or tennis doubles?

Yes. The format came from padel, but any doubles game with rally scoring works the same way — pickleball Americanos (often called rotating partner round robins) are common.
