The FIP requires a minimum of 6 m of clear height over the whole court, with nothing — including lights — intruding into that space, and suggests 8 m for new builds. That is the constraint that rules out most existing indoor halls.
A padel court is 20 m long and 10 m wide measured inside the enclosure, with a 0.5% tolerance, and it is the same size for singles and doubles at club level. The service lines run parallel to the net 6.95 m from it on each side, which puts them 3.05 m from the back glass.
A padel net is 0.88 m high at the centre, rising to 0.92 m at the ends, with a tolerance of 0.005 m. That is noticeably lower than a tennis net, which is 0.914 m at the centre and 1.07 m at the posts.
The back enclosures are 4 m in total: the lower 3 m is wall — glass, brick or another material giving a uniform bounce — and the top 1 m is metallic fence. The FIP allows two side configurations: a stepped variant with 3 m and 2 m wall sections, and a glass variant with a 3 m high, 4 m long wall in each end zone.
The playing enclosure is 20 by 10 m, and you have to add the structure itself plus the out-of-court safety area the FIP requires: an obstacle-free strip at least 3 m wide (4 m recommended) and 4 m long on each side, at least 3 m high. Indoors, the binding constraint is usually height — the FIP requires 6 m of clear height across the whole court.
No, and it is not close. A padel court is 20 by 10 m; a tennis court is 23.77 by 10.97 m of playing lines and needs roughly 34.7 by 17.1 m of total area for club play. A padel court is shorter, narrower, enclosed on all sides, and has a lower net.
