Short answer: There are two ways to pay for badminton in the US. Drop-in (you pay per person and play rotating games) costs a median $13 per visit at the verified venues that publish a price: about $5 at city rec centers and $15 at badminton clubs. Court rental (you book a whole court for your group) costs a median $35 an hour, from $14 to $50, and a booked court usually holds four players, so a doubles group pays about $9 each.
We built these numbers from the published prices of verified badminton venues in The Court Scout directory, as of 28 October 2026. Here is how each model works and what to expect.

How badminton court booking works
Court rental. You book a court for an hour in an app or online. The price is per court, and most clubs set a player limit:
- San Gabriel Valley Badminton Club (El Monte, CA): court reservation $25/hr, booked 24 hours ahead.18 courtsIndoorPay to play✓ Verified 2026-06-23
- Shuttl (South San Francisco): $35/hr off-peak, $50/hr peak, up to 6 players per court, $10 per extra player.4 courtsIndoorPay to play✓ Verified 2026-06-23

Drop-in. You pay per person and join rotating games, much like pickleball open play. Clubs usually price a day pass or a session: Austin Badminton Academy sells a $13 full-day pass at its three sites, New York Badminton Center in Flushing charges $20 to $24 depending on the day and whether you reserve, and Club28 in Philadelphia runs open play at $15 a session.
Community gym sessions. City rec departments run scheduled badminton nights in school or community-center gyms for a few dollars: $3 in Fort Collins (first visit free), $3 to $7 in Irvine with residents registering first, and $5 at the Anchorage parks department's open badminton. In Houston, the Houston Badminton Club plays at Fonde Recreation Center for a $20 one-time membership.
Drop-in or rent a court?
| You are... | Best option | Why |
|---|---|---|
| On your own, or new to an area | Drop-in | You get games without bringing a partner, and meet the local players |
| A group of 4 who play together | Court rental | $35 split four ways is about $9 each, often less than four drop-ins |
| A group of 5 or 6 | Court rental with extra players | Rotate off; check the club's player limit and extra-player fee |
| A regular, 2+ times a week | Membership | Club memberships run about $35 to $100 a month, often with free or cheaper court time |
| On a budget | City rec-center session | A median $5, though schedules are limited |
Memberships
Six verified clubs publish monthly membership prices: Atlanta Badminton Club ($35 to $100 a month plus $30 registration, or a $15 adult guest pass), Frisco Badminton Academy ($40 to $70 plus a $60 sign-up), Charlotte Badminton Club ($50), Carolina Badminton Club ($70 individual, $125 family), Club 7 ($75, unlimited play) and DFW Indoor Sports ($79 to $99). At Lewisville, membership turns a $30 court hour into $6.
How to pay less
- Share the court. Four players on a $35 court pay under $9 each.
- Play off-peak. Shuttl, Arena and Lewisville all charge less before the evening rush.
- Use city sessions. Rec-center badminton is a median $5.
- Bring your own shuttles. Some drop-in prices include shuttles (Pikes Peak Badminton Club's $15 session does) and some do not. Our guide to badminton shuttlecocks explains which to buy.
- Buy a multi-visit pass. Napa Valley Badminton Club sells 10 visits for $63 against $7 single entry; Austin Badminton Academy sells 10 days for $115 against $13.

Methodology
- Venues. Open, verified US badminton venues in The Court Scout database (
data/courts.json) on 28 October 2026. Verified means the details were confirmed against the venue's own site, an official parks page or its Google Business Profile (how we verify). 51 of the 144 verified venues publish a price. - Prices were read by hand from each venue's cost line. Drop-in is the lowest published adult per-visit or day-pass price; court rental is the lowest published per-court hourly rate (a $75 two-hour block in San Jose counts as $37.50 an hour). Classes, coaching and junior rates are excluded.
- With small samples (31 drop-in prices, 9 court rates), we report medians and quote real venue prices rather than precise averages.
